Speak Flow is an English learning app that helps users practice conversation, pronunciation, listening, shadowing, and guided lessons with an AI tutor. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we collect it, how we use it, and when we share it with service providers, including third-party AI services.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect account information such as your name, email address, phone number if provided, login provider, authentication tokens, and basic profile information needed to create and manage your account.
We may collect learning information such as your native language, English level, learning goals, preferred topics, daily practice settings, lesson progress, completed activities, pronunciation scores, selected hints, and chat or lesson history.
We may collect user content that you choose to provide in the app, including typed chat messages, lesson answers, conversation responses, and audio recordings submitted through microphone-based features. Audio recordings may be transcribed into text and used to evaluate pronunciation or generate AI responses.
We may collect technical and diagnostic information such as device type, operating system, app version, app usage events, server logs, crash logs, and network request metadata needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you when you register, sign in, complete onboarding, type messages, select learning preferences, answer lesson prompts, or submit audio through the microphone controls in the app.
We collect some information automatically when you use the app, such as app activity, lesson progress, diagnostic logs, and technical information. We also receive limited information from authentication providers when you sign in using a third-party login method.
We only access the microphone when you use a voice feature and grant microphone permission through your device operating system. You can manage microphone permission in your device settings.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to create and manage accounts, authenticate users, provide lessons, personalize learning content, remember progress, generate AI tutor responses, provide translations, convert speech to text, convert text to speech, evaluate pronunciation, and show summaries or feedback after practice sessions.
We also use information to maintain app reliability, troubleshoot errors, respond to support requests, prevent misuse, protect users and the service, comply with legal obligations, and improve app quality and learning features.
5. AI Data Use and Consent
Speak Flow includes AI-powered features. Before users access these features from the app, we ask them to confirm that they agree to share relevant learning data and voice data with a third-party AI service for processing.
The data that may be sent for AI processing includes typed chat messages, voice recordings, speech transcriptions, lesson content, practice responses, pronunciation results, learning preferences, and other context needed to provide the requested AI feature.
This data may be sent to Speak Flow servers and to OpenAI, our third-party AI service provider, to support AI conversation, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, translation, pronunciation feedback, and personalized lesson responses.
6. Service Providers and Third Parties
We may share information with service providers that help us operate Speak Flow, including providers for hosting, storage, authentication, AI processing, speech processing, analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, and customer support.
These providers are permitted to process personal data only for the purpose of providing services to Speak Flow. We require third-party service providers, including AI providers, to protect personal data using privacy and security protections that are the same as or equivalent to the protections described in this policy.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their independent advertising or marketing purposes.
7. Subscriptions and Payment Data
When you purchase or manage a subscription in the app, payment transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. Speak Flow does not directly collect, store, or process your full card number, card security code, or full payment account details.
We may receive and process limited subscription-related information to operate the service, such as user identifiers, transaction identifiers or transaction receipts/tokens, subscription status, purchased plan, active period, renewal status, cancellation status, and information needed to unlock in-app benefits.
Subscription information may be shared with service providers that help manage in-app purchases and access rights, such as RevenueCat, and with Apple or Google when needed to verify transactions, provide support, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, or resolve payment disputes.
8. Legal and Safety Sharing
We may disclose information when necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, investigate misuse, protect the rights and safety of users or others, protect the security of the service, or complete a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale.
9. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain learning history, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, protect the service, and improve reliability. Temporary audio files, cached files, logs, and diagnostic data may be deleted sooner when they are no longer needed.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user data, including access controls and secure transmission where appropriate. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your Choices
You may choose not to use microphone features, decline microphone permission, skip optional profile fields where available, manage app permissions through your device settings, or stop using AI-powered features. Some features may not work without the information needed to provide them.
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data where applicable. You may also delete your account from within the app where that option is available.
12. Children
Speak Flow is intended for general English learning use. If the app is used by children, it should be under appropriate parent, guardian, school, or teacher supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where prohibited by law.
13. International Processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. When information is transferred or processed internationally, we take steps designed to protect it in accordance with this policy and applicable law.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, the updated date on this page will be revised. Continued use of the app after an update means the updated policy applies.
